That's good to hear, Lori. It confirms what I'm thinking, that taking the time to do this and considering books as long-term investments pays dividends when you're coming to write, create, think or plan. It doesn't take much to seal a book into your memory.

i actually make a file on my computer and make “book notes” for any nonfiction i read — and if i buy a nonfiction book, i highlight it and write notes in the margin as well! i consider them my own personal textbooks, not for sharing with other people (although i recommend, i just don’t loan out my copy) and not for passing on to the thrift store — i put them on the shelf and they become resources i can refer back to.

now, fiction, that i tend to forget immediately! ;o)

Your grandmother kept a little black book. (which I now possess) It had loads of information, names, addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, etc - which I transferred to the computer for myself. It also included lists of books - books she'd read, books to read. I want to become more intentional about that too. To jot down authors I have enjoyed, books I've loved! Like you, sometimes I inhale! But what a joy our inherited love of books is!
